Taylor and I are doing our 2nd project on the Shearwaters Radar
Audio - Your audio is really good. Interviews sound great and are at appropriate levels. Unfortunately I don't hear much nat sounds in your b-roll. Did you take them out or lower them considerably? I can hardly hear anything. Voiceovers are at good levels too that match your interviews. This is an A- effort in your audio.
Visuals - Your lower third words need to be further from the CKTV logo. They are crowding up on the left hand side and should not overlap like how you have them. That's an easy fix that you can do in just a few minutes. Try to keep your words in the center of the area that you have them in. Oftentimes you have the person's name lower in the graphic instead of being centered. Most of your b-roll is good although you can tell that you zoomed in to a few shots to create a cut-in instead of shooting a cut-in while you were out filming. Some b-roll also looked reused. Visuals are at a B+ grade.
Right off the bat of your video, you have an error and I don't think you caught this. In your VO you say that the shearwater is found only on Kauai yet in your first interview right after that, Tracy says that 90%, not 100%, of the world's shearwater population exists on Kauai. That means there are still another 10% of the birds not on Kauai so your VO is false. Be very careful with what you say. This one was easy to catch because the two soundbites were right next to each other. Where Cary talks about the predators to the shearwater, you show us a shot of a group of kids and the boxes of the shearwaters that will be released. They don't match with what's being said. That should be fixed if you have anything else that better matches what he's saying at that time. Who is KIUC? Not once do you mention what KIUC stands for. Sure, you and I may know what KIUC stands for since we live here but what about someone from Oahu that might see this on Hiki No or on the web? They will have no clue. You did not make that connection from KIUC to the radar too well. Why is it beneficial for the radar to be able to be moved from place to place on the island? All you do is say that that's possible but you don't give any reason why that's a good thing or not. You also mention how the radar system has shown improvements in the shearwater's population. How so? What data does KIUC have that shows that this radar that they spend tons of money on is actually useful to both the birds and KIUC? You move next into when they got the radar and say nothing else about how the population of shearwaters is better since they started using it. Did you catch that in Cary's interview he mentions that the flight patterns show where their POLES are at risk and not the bird? Not a good sound bite to have in there for KIUC. Your last VO is not needed because all of that info was already shared. Your last shot is also crooked.
Because of the errors in facts and the missing information, I have to give this a B. It was good but not great.
