Have you ever wondered what it would look like if you could see two parts of the world at once? I have, James W Griffiths has made a short film called "Splitscreen: A Love Story" to help us see what a world would look like if we ever did do such a thing. This is an amazing video because the video is showing the same event, but in different parts of the world. Another amazing thing about this video is that it was all shot entirely with a Nokia N8 phone, 3 years ago. This short film won the "Nokia Shorts Competition" in 2011. This film was shot in first person, meaning that whatever the person sees, the camera sees. My favorite part of this video is the end when they show the map on both sides of the screen, and when the person looked up they saw their loved one. On one side it was a boy and on the other side it was a girl. I think that this video is by far one of the most creative films I have seen because if you haven't noticed almost all the lines line up with each other. I believe that this film is tied with my other film I posted last week. If you have a favorite part of the film above, please leave a comment below. Till next time, Bye!!!
Hi guys, this week’s free blog will be on this film called "Bounce-This is not a freestyle movie" by Guillaume Blanchet. He has been traveling around the world for two years now. Guillaume has been to Canada, Greece, France, the USA, and Morocco with his friends. With a ball in his suitcase and his friends, what more would you want right? This film, in Guillaume's words, is like "a animated postcard of what friendship, resilience and freedom is about, and celebration of the greatest game of all”. I like this short film because it goes from place to place all over the world and ends right where he started. To me it shows how to be creative without over thinking your story. I also like how he meets all kind of different people and characters while on his trip. In this film, there is barely any continuity, which is amazing because he is filming at different locations and linking them together to create a story. Hope you enjoy it and until next time, bye!
Aloha kakou, for my required blog post I will be talking about what my plans are for my 4th Quarter Project. Can you believe it, 4th Quarter already! Since Kaycee and I both finished our PSA early, we decided to work together to attempt to make another short film. Yes folks, I said short film, but we plan on making it 7-8 minutes long.
The first step we planned out was, what genre our movie was going to have. We talked about it in the past media classes and we narrowed it down to an action movie, with adventure and comedy. We now have to think of a name and create a script for our film. If anyone knows a good name for an action movie, with adventure and comedy, please let me know in the comment box below.
Once we accomplish that step, we will have to choose our actors and actresses. One thing that I know for sure, is that there are only going to have 2-3 main characters because last time we had way too many characters. The reason why you don't want a lot of characters is because it’s hard to get everyone together to shoot the scenes.
When we finish the writing portion of the film, we will have to show it to Mr. M and get it approved. If the script gets approved, Kaycee and I will move on to the filming and editing portion of the video. If it does not get approved, we will have to make changes to our script.
We have our work cut out for us this quarter, especially with our practices and big competition coming up. If we hit a block in the road, Plan B is to do a music video instead. Hopefully, we will not have to change our project, but it never hurts to have a back up plan. For the rest of my classmates, I wish you all good luck on you 4th Quarter project “and may the odds be ever in your favor”! Wish us luck and until next time, Bye!
Reflecting? This week's required blog post is to reflect on our last practice and to respond on our last 3 goals for the practice. Our practice was last week Saturday the 7th. My goals were to help keep our team stay kind of focused, try to pitch some clever and creative ideas to each other, and make sure that we use up almost all of our editing time and look for any mistakes in the final video. I feel like we did a good job in accomplishing those three goals.
In the beginning of this past practice, we had a little trouble focusing. We had to talk out our problems, I was part of the talk and I feel like it helped us see the goal. Also, I feel like we became better at focusing.
My second goal was to try to pitch some clever and creative ideas to each other. Before we went out to shoot, we sat and talked to each other about ideas that matched the song. I think we did good this practice because we split the lyrics sheet up into sections and talked about our sequences. I watched the final product and there are a lot of creative shots and sequences.
My last goal was to help make sure that we use up almost all of our editing time and look for any mistakes in the final video. Last week Saturday almost everyone used up all their time, including us. Javlynn and I watched the final video so many times and we didn't find any noticeable mistakes, so we added some special effects.
So that's how last week's practice went, if you haven't read my previous blog my team and I scheduled another practice for tomorrow by ourselves. See ya next week! Bye!
Hi de ho, today's freebie blog will be about our 3rd music video practice tomorrow. Most of you may be thinking that there is no scheduled practice on the calendar... well since tomorrow is President's Day, we have a free day. My team took this opportunity as a chance to improve ourselves. We scheduled the date, time, and place by ourselves. The only thing we're missing is the assigned music. This practice we will have to try harder to stay focused, keep getting extra b-roll, and stick together as a group. I have faith that we will do well, wish us luck! Till next time, Bye!!!
Hi guys, this week's blog is about 3 things I can personally do to help my team. If you have read my previous blogs, we had a practice today. I know I can't do three things that I WILL do, but I will write about what I DID do today. Today, I helped keep our team stay kind of focused. I also tried to pitch some clever and creative ideas to each other. Lastly, I made sure that we used up almost all of our editing time and look for any mistakes in the final video.
Since this is our second practice it should be easier and better than the first, right? Well, today one of our team members came so it was a little different. We had to help "teach" them the "way of the music video", and it was hard to keep some of us focused on the goal, so we had "a little umm... pep talk" to keep us focused. I think it helped, I'm not sure, but I guess we will find out at our next practice.
This morning, I also tried to help the team think of some good ideas that matched the lyrics. Since the song was "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors, it was a fun song to do and there were a lot of chorus parts, so I feel like it was a little bit easier.
Last but not least, I tried to make sure that Javlynn and I used up all of our time to edit and make sure the video didn't have continuity, jump cuts, or blackouts in the time line. I think Javlynn and I watched the video 6 or 7 times and about 3 times backwards to make sure we didn't miss anything. Mr. M said that someone said "If you finished early, does it mean it's perfect?".
To sum it all up, we had our 2nd practice of the year at Chiefess. There were three things I personally did to help the team. I helped keep our team stay kind of focused because I know that we all want this so bad, but we all need to be focused and work as a team. I also tried to pitch some clever and creative ideas to the team, and lastly I made sure that we used up almost all of our editing time and look for any mistakes. Till next time, Bye! :)
Hey guys, this blog is just a update on my 3rd Quarter Project " Think Before You Drink". My TIASM-VO and shot list/script are under my "Projects" page and in my "3rd Quarter". After school on Friday, I finished my filming at CKMS. Kaycee acted as the "Sugary Girl" and Javlynn acted as the Magnificent "Water Girl". Micah and Brandon were in the background, acting as the two friends and Ben was there for moral support. After I finished filming, I came home and edited my video. I am basically done once I find music that matches my PSA. When that is taken cared of I will show Mr. M and see if there are is anything I can improve on.
As you all know today is the BIG day! THE SUPER BOWL! I'm rooting for obviously the Seahawks. I really like the Super Bowl because they have the most creative commercials. If you haven't heard yet the two teams that are going to be playing are the Seattle Seahawks vs New England Patriots. The commercials are always different and really interesting and fun. These companies know that there are millions of people watching the game, so there will we a lot of people watching their commercials. Even though that's a good advertisement strategy, it costs big bucks to have it aired during the game. So that's the update, I hope we win because if not, I won't hear the end of it from my friends! I'll catch you on the flip side (get it...Catch)... Ok Byeee.
I'm so Kelli, you already know me, I'm in Me-dia, from 7th grade to 8th grade oh,
